Children's Center (Sensory Room)
The sensory room at the Providence Children's Center is filled with therapeutic toys and equipment. The room is an oasis for kids with Sensory Processing Disorder as well as for those with impaired vision, hearing or cognitive disabilities. Specially trained occupational therapists evaluate children in sensory responses and design treatment plans tailored to each child's needs. It assists kids in developing hand-eye coordination, tracking skills, visual attention, balanced movement and vocalization, as well as helping anxious, fearful children learn relaxation skills and sensory awareness. This is the only room of its kind on the West Coast.
